Cirba turned to Crabtree Marketing a custom packaging design and printing company to develop a targeted direct mail package. Cirba’s only request was that it include gourmet peanut butter and jelly. Each kit would be mailed to very high level executives of fortune 500 companies.
Robert Crabtree from Crabtree Marketing, came up with the idea to package this gourmet PB&J jars in a brown kraft box that was hand stamped “fragile” along with a “packaged by hand” sticker. Upon opening the box, the recipient would find a hand written letter, a marketing piece and two jars of gourmet PB&J protected by brown crinkled kraft paper. Each jar wore a hang tag hand tied on with butchers twine.
The main message of the marketing campaign was “some things go better together”. Peanut Butter & Jelly or in this case, Cirba and the prospects own software.
With over an 80% response rate, almost every recipient fielded a phone call from Cirba and raved about the mailer. A representative from Walt Disney said… “The only reason I accepted this call, was because I was extremely impressed by your mailer.”
